My name is Ivan and i think that the biggest issue for violence against woman is physical abuse. I have sen it with my own eyes and have done somethings about it. Here in this story it shows the narrative of a young women in a common situation.
Every night i wake up in fear, fearing that he will come to my room and give me even more bruises. If only my mother hadn't " disappeared " she would have helped me. Harry who was my father , told me to never speak of her or the bruises in my life. I really wanted to get help but, I was just too much of a shy person. Every day at school my grades were also suffering. For P.E I never participated since it would hurt to breathe and i was too tired. All the other classes I just was always having a headache. It took me three days but I finally built up the courage to runaway. Harry chased me with a Marlin336xlr (rifle) until i reached a filed. I found an old shack where I hid until he left. Honestly i thought that he would never try to find me again. I stepped out side into the night but only to step on a bear trap. My leg started spew out blood and he popped out of no where and pointed the rifle at my face. I fought for the gun but only in agony because of my leg. I picked up the gun and pointed at him. I shot his head and buts of is brain fell on me. Now I was scared and had to run.....
Artist statement:

I saw this in real life and I have done something about it but, I want to raise awareness. I hope for everyone to see that it can happen to anyone and how bad this is. They should also understand the importance of the issue. I chose the artist Reanea Mcneal because she shows similar stories from real people in her exhibits. I was told that the story was very “ interesting” and a bit “ disturbing”,I hoped for that . In my personal experience i witnessed abuse in my family and I talked to that person into stopping. As a strength i can make things very “disturbing” in stories. The story relates to the things I have seen by physical abuse and similar feelings. One thing that I have learned is that most stories seem similar but they all are unique in some way. |
